MARKKULA CAMP CENTRE

Markkula Camp Centre was built in 1986 and it has been recently renovated during the winter of 2019-2020. Markkula is located in a very calm, beautiful spot, right next to the clearwater Suur-Merkjärvi lake and only 15 kilometres from Hamina’s city centre. The camp centre’s spacious yard is surrounded by a beautiful forest, creating the perfect setting for outdoor adventures.

The centre’s main building can accommodate up to 38 people, in rooms of 1 to 4 people each. Showers and toilets are readily available, located near the rooms. In addition, the main building has a cafeteria, a reception hall that can be used for celebrations, and a lounge with a cozy fireplace.

At the camp centre, you will also find two cabins, both situated right at the edge of the lake. This is a great place for you to spend your evening, perhaps lighting a small fire and grilling some sausages.

The beach sauna is also located by the lake, boasting two separate electrically-heated sauna rooms, in addition to shower facilities. Why not go for a swim in the clear water lake during the sunny summer months, or a quick dip in the icy waters during the snowy winter!

There is a grilling area located at the edge of the forest, in front of the main building. Enjoy a nice and relaxing evening campfire here.

For breakfast, our homemade, freshly baked bread will surely wake you up and get you ready for the day. At lunch, you can try some tasty lasagna with a cooked vegetable side dish and a fresh salad. During your coffee break, the sweet aroma of pastries will wander through the building. There will perhaps be some freshly made cinnamon buns or doughnuts, as a little treat to have with your coffee. At dinner, you may want something lighter, so we can perhaps serve some tasty salmon soup with traditional rye bread, cheese, and vegetables on the side! And for an evening snack, you can enjoy a collection of homemade Finnish bread, along with some rice pies, cheese cuts, and vegetables of course! In addition, we will serve some delicious fruits and some soothing tea.
